Memorable Iconic Movie Dishes to Share at Home

Hagrid’s rustic handmade birthday cake with heartfelt charm

As the BAFTA Film Awards season unfolds, it highlights unforgettable cinematic stories where iconic food often plays an important role, making the storytelling truly memorable. These moments are more than just scenes on screen; they inspire us to recreate them at home, celebrating love, belonging, and connection. With Morphy Richards, bringing iconic movie dishes to life is both simple and rewarding.

Hagrid’s Cake

Its rustic look concealed a heart of deep warmth with imperfect, heartfelt charm, offering Harry’s first true sense of belonging. (Harry Potter, 2001)

Method

1. Preheat the oven to 180°C. Grease a 6-inch round cake pan with a thin layer of oil.
2.Beat the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy, then mix in the eggs and vanilla extract. Gently fold the cake flour and milk until no dry streaks remain. Bake in the Electric Oven at 180°C for 30—35 minutes, then let the cake cool completely.
3. Sift the powdered sugar into a bowl. Add the milk and pink food coloring, mixing until a light pink icing forms. Then pour the icing over the top of the cooled cake, allowing it to drip naturally down the sides.
4. Finally, use a green chocolate pen to write “HAPPEE BIRTHDAE HARRY” on the top of the cake.

Pro Tip: Preserving the rustic texture of the cake is key to recreating its iconic look and echoing Hagrid’s rough-but-heartfelt nature.

Ingredients

· 120 g cake flour
· 250 g powdered sugar
· 110 g unsalted butter (softened)
· 2 eggs
· 60 ml milk
· 1 tsp vanilla extract
· A few drops of red food coloring
· A melted green chocolate pen (for garnish)

Steak with Ham & Eggs

Steak, ham, and eggs seared together create not just a hearty meal, but heartfelt warmth and generosity. (The Million Pound Note, 1954)

Method

1. Pat the steak dry and season with sea salt and black pepper.
2. Preheat the Multifunction Cooking Pot and add oil. Sear the steak 2—3 minutes per side, then add butter and rosemary.
3. Add ham, cherry tomatoes, potatoes and eggs. Cook until lightly crispy and set.
4. Arrange the steak and all ingredients on a warm plate and serve.

Pro Tip: Boil the potatoes for 5 minutes first, ensuring a tender interior.

Ingredients

· A 200-250 g rib-eye steak
· 2 slices thick-cut ham
· 30 g butter (softened)
· 2 eggs
· 1 tsp olive oil
· Some freshly ground black pepper & sea salt
· A few sprigs of fresh rosemary (optional)
· Some cherry tomatoes and potatoes

Beef Bourguignon

This dish weaves more than tender beef and wine—it weaves a family together through time, patience, and shared anticipation. (Julie & Julia, 2009)

Method

1. Place the beef chunks in a large bowl. Add the bay leaves, black pepper and the red wine (ensure the beef is fully submerged). Cover the bowl and refrigerate to marinate overnight.
2. Remove the beef chunks from the marinade and pat dry (reserve the marinade wine). Heat olive oil in the Foldable Multi-Function Cooking Pot. Sear the beef chunks until golden brown on all sides.
3. Then pour in the reserved marinade wine. Add the bacon, along with the carrot, onion, and tomato (all cut into large chunks). Bring to a boil, then reduce the heat to low.
4. Season with salt and pepper, cover, and simmer gently for about 2 hours until the beef is tender. Serve hot.

Pro Tip: After adding the wine, bring the wine to a rolling boil for 10 minutes to burn off the excess raw alcohol and prevent acidity.

Ingredients

· 500 g beef chuck (cut into large chunks)
· 100 g bacon (roughly chopped)
· 3 bay leaves
· 500 ml red wine
· 2 tsp olive oil
· 1 carrot
· 1 onion
· 1 tomato
· A pinch of black pepper and salt

The Cubano Sandwich

The process of compressing, fusing, and heating—It represents family bonds rebuilt through shared effort and the love communicated.  (Chef, 2014)

Method

1. Heat the olive oil in the pan. Sear the pork and ham slices until golden and crispy.
2. Slather yellow mustard on the insides of the Cuban bread. Layer the cheese, seared pork, ham, and pickles. Top with the other slice and brush melted butter evenly over both sides.
3. Wrap the sandwich tightly in aluminum foil, pressing down firmly to compact the fillings. Bake the sandwich in the Air Fryer at 180℃ for 10 minutes until the surface is crunchy.
4. Remove from the Air Fryer, slice into halves, serve at once.

Pro tip: Drying the pickle slices to prevent excess moisture and ensure your sandwich stays non-soggy.

Ingredients

· 1 Cuban bread
· 2 slices of pork
· 2 slices of ham
· 2 slices of cheese
· 3-4 slices of dill pickle
· 1 tsp yellow mustard
· 1 tsp olive oil
· 2 tsp unsalted butter (melted)
· A sheet of aluminum foil
